First Czechoslovak player to score 400 goals in top national league. He was on 12 World Championships and 4 Olympic Games. Captain of HC Kometa Brno and Czechoslovak national team. Member of the famous formation of HC Kometa Brno: Josef Cerny (LW) - Frantisek Vanek (C) - Rudolf Scheuer (RW) Later he formed a great tandem with Richard Farda (C) (from 1968) and Libor Havlicek (C) (from 1974) (Jan Jech)
