Cult/Star player for Villacher SV

The Levoča, Slovakia native Marcel Sakač played in the Czechoslovakian Extraliga for 15 seasons and a total of 447 matches. He won three national championship titles and represented the Team ČSSR in 22 matches, including two world championships. Sakač was famous for being one of the last goaltenders in the game, who played without a mask. In 1981 he left HC Slovan Bratislava for Austrian Wiener EV, from 1982 to 1985 he represented Villacher SV, where he became a true legend and was voted to the most outstanding foreign goalkeeper in the club’s history.
