Gävlekille som var mycket målfarlig. Brynäs stora målskytt tillsammans med Hans Eriksson säsongen 56/57.

Hade även en mycket viktig roll i Brynäs säsongen 1959/60 då laget tog sig tillbaka till allsvenskan. Då tillhörde Söderblom en mycket rutinerad kedja tillsammans med Sven Jernberg och K-G Mattsson.

Blommade ut redan under sin tid i Gävle GIK där han bl a fick debutera i Tre Kronor 1949. Debuten spelades mot Finland i Åbo och Sverige vann med 9-5. Söderblom, som spelade tillsammans med Södertälje SK:s Birger Nilsson och Börje Löfgren, gick av planen utan att ha nätat för Tre Kronor.
