"Hacko" kallad.

Började som forward men skolades tidigt om till att bli en av Grums IK:s målfarligaste backar i division 1 under 1950-talet.

Fick även chansen till spel i Tre Kronor. Dock blev det bara en a-landskamp. Det var säsongen 1958/59 då blågult slog Finland med med 8-2 i Södertälje efter att bland annat Sven Tumba svarat för tre av målen.
Som backpartner hade Pettersson Forshagas Hans Sääker som han senare skulle kampera ihop med under flera säsonger i Grums IK.
