Short biography
After retiring as a player, Randy Sexton served as an assistant coach and director of scouting and recruiting for two season with the St. Lawrence University. After his sting with St. Lawrence University he earned a master's degree in business administration from Clarkson University. He returned to hockey in the late 1980s and early 1990s while working for Bruce Firestone's Terrace Investments. Sexton, Firestone and Cyril Leeder successfully pursued an NHL expansion franchise that became known as the Ottawa Senators. He first served as the President of franchise, but later on added the duties of General Manager. In 1995 he was replaced by Pierre Gauthier. Sexton returned to hockey in 2007 when he was named Assistant General by the Florida Panthers. He moved to the Pittsburgh Penguins organization in 2010 after serving one season as the Panthers' General Manager.
