Cult/Star player for Leksands IF

Official Games Team Sweden: 15 A

Född i Djursholm utanför Stockholm och inledde sin hockeybana i den egenstartade klubben Flemmingepojkarna som hade sin isbana på Stadshagens IP. Flyttade upp till Leksand som 11-åring. Spelade inte mindre än 21 säsonger för Leksands IF. En av föreningens stora målskyttar genom tiderna. Mycket svår att läsa för målvakterna och som alltid gav 100% i alla matcher. Landslagsdebuterade 30 december 1949 på Stockholms Olympiastadion mot Storbritannien (Nottingham Panthers). Förlust med 1-5. Tränade bl a Leksands IF, Mora IK och Avesta BK efter sin aktiva tid.
Stig Påvels avled 2013 i Leksand.
