Official Games Team Sweden: 20 A

Målvakt från Leksands IF. Var tvingad till ett speluppehåll under två år i mitten av 1950-talet p g a TBC. Spelade 20 A-landskamper och var bl a med som reservmålvakt till Thord Flodqvist under VM 1958 i Oslo. Rune Gudmundsson debuterade i högsta serien redan som 17-åring. Debuterade i Tre Kronor som reserv bakom Sven Jonsson, även han från Leksands IF, 1953 mot Finland, vinst med 5-0. Redan dagen därpå så kom Gudmunssons riktiga debut i Tammerfors då han vaktade målet när Tre Kronor vann med 6-4.
Mångårig ledare för Dalarnas TV-pucklag efter sin aktiva tid.
Avled 1993 efter ett hjärtfel.
