Player Biography and Trivia

The Tampere, Finland native Pentti Hyytiäinen participated in three World Championship tournaments with the Finnish national team in the early 1960s. He won two championship titles in the Finnish league with his mother club Tappara in 60/61 ans 63/64, afterwards he played in Sweden and Germany. In 1977 he joined Villacher SV, the newcomer in the Austrian league. Hyytiäinen has been the first Fin to wear Villach's jersey. Over the course of four years he played 127 games in the Austrian league, collected 57 points (17 goals, 40 assists) and 80 penalty minutes. He was even naturalized and represented Team Austria in nine international games.
