Phil Todd died on 26 August, 2003, following an unlikely accident on August 21, 2003. He jumped off from the trunk of a slowly moving car, tripped and hit head on the driveway. His last team, the Omaha Lancers, honored his family's request to keep on the team roster during the 2003-04 season.
