A stay-at-home defenseman. Honkanen is not overly mobile or agile, but he reads the game fairly well and solves tricky situations by playing a strong physical game. He likes to play the body and deliver a good hit. However, Honkanen does take quite a bit of silly penalties and should cool down a bit in his play.
