Drafted 2009, 3 #43 overall by Kitchener Rangers in the OHL Priority Selection

Missed most of 2009-11 seasons after a highly controversial check/board he suffered at the hands of then Erie Otters' F Michael Liambas on October 31, 2009, a hit that resulted in severe injury and brain damage to Fanelli and resulted in a lengthy suspension ending Liambas' junior hockey career. Fanelli returned to the Kitchener Rangers lineup September 1st, 2011.
