When scouting a player over multiple seasons, finding appreciation for their game can be a slow burn -- a spark that undoubtedly balloons into an inferno. That was the case for our scouting team and Cole Reschny

Reschny, the former No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 WHL Bantam Draft, was destined to uplift a Victoria Royals team cycling out of a rebuild. In his rookie season, he landed third in points among draft-minus-one players, helping the organisation reach the playoffs for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

From there, Reschny obliterated the WHL across his draft season, finishing fourth in primary assists per-60 minutes (per InStat Hockey) and tied for ninth in overall points with 92.
