In the two previous years, Finland has suffered soul-crushing defeats in the quarterfinals. Now, they’re looking to return to form and reach the final stages of the tournament.

In many ways, the odds are stacked against them. The 2007-born age group has long been a weak one for the country, exemplified by the fact that NHL Central Scouting’s final ranking of European skaters featured just a single Finn in the top 22. When we released our top-75 ranking a few days ago, not a single Finland-based player made the cut.
