Fresh off a second straight gold medal at the Under-20 World Junior Championship (U20WJC), the buzz around Gabe Perreult is higher than ever. The New York Rangers draft pick has excelled both at the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP) and Boston College. Despite all his success, some still doubt his projection of being a star at the NHL level. 

Perreault was selected 23rd overall by the Rangers. The Elite Prospects team had him rated as the 18th-best prospect, so we like the value. He likely slipped a bit due to his size (5-foot-11), weaker skating, and lack of physicality. The EP team recognized his shortcomings but believed there was too much upside to pass on. In particular, Perreault’s passing, puckhandling, and hockey sense received top marks.
