Avalanche win 5-1 on the road against Blue Jackets

The Colorado Avalanche won on the road on Saturday, handing the Columbus Blue Jackets a defeat 5-1.

The Avalanche opened strong, with Artturi Lehkonen scoring right at the start, after only 33 seconds, a goal assisted by Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen.

The Blue Jackets tied the game 1-1 with a goal from Boone Jenner in the middle of the first period, assisted by Zach Werenski and Jack Roslovic.

Three goals were scored in the second period, and the Avalanche led 4-1 going in to the third period.

The Avalanche increased the lead to 5-1, after only 46 seconds into the third period when Alex Newhook netted one, assisted by Evan Rodrigues and Martin Kaut. The 5-1 goal was the last one of the game.

Columbus is now 3–9–0, while Colorado improves to 6–4–1.

Colorado are now in third place, while Columbus is in eighth and last place.

On Thursday, the Blue Jackets will play the Flyers at 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena, and the Avalanche will play the Predators at 9 p.m. at Ball Arena.
