Toronto players pull ahead in the third to defeat Washington players

The Toronto Maple Leafs were victorious at home against the Washington Capitals. After two periods, the teams were tied at 2, but Toronto pulled away in the third, winning the game 3-2.

The game-winning goal was scored by Toronto's Auston Matthews.

Auston Matthews took the lead early in the third period, assisted by Rasmus Sandin and Mitch Marner.

Toronto improves to 1–1–0, while Washington drops to 0–2–0.
