It's not like Max Plante didn't have options.

When you're the Hobey Baker winner, who finished third in the country in scoring, is a Detroit Red Wings draft pick, and had all the reasons in the world to turn pro. After all, no Hobey winner has returned to college for another season in nearly 20 years, and it's more than fair to say college hockey back then as a whole was quite different from what it is today.

But what he did almost as soon as he stepped off stage from accepting the Hobey, instead, was commit to a third year at Minnesota-Duluth.
