NCAA season preview: Breaking down the 2025-26 conference races

In arguably the most intriguing season in college hockey history, everything is up in the air. The recent advent of unlimited transfers means teams are working the portal harder than ever, while at the same time former major junior, USports, and even professional players are jumping to the college ranks. On top of that, the House Settlement means some teams will have as many as 26 players on scholarships and getting paid revenue-sharing money.
That, in turn, means many conference races are being turned on their heads, as coaches continue adapting to shifting dynamics.
The following conference-by-conference breakdown will provide the lay of the land across the country:
