NCAA Weekender: Hockey East teams in precarious position

Split, split, split, split.
That's how it went in the four Hockey East in-conference series this weekend.
In fact, that's more or less how it's gone all season. Of the 19 home-and-home series through the first seven weeks of Hockey East play, 13 have been either a three-and-three or four-and-two point split. Meaning the Hockey East Standings currently have all but one team within two games of .500. And the team that's not there is 11th-place UMass, a club many observers thought was an NCAA bubble team, at the very least, coming into the season.
