Ryder Ritchie Commits to Boston University

NCAA

The NCAA talent war is heating up, and the CHL-to-college pipeline just landed another big name.

It appears that Medicine Hat Tigers forward Ryder Ritchie is heading south. Sources tell Elite Prospects that the 2024 second-round pick of the Minnesota Wild has committed to Boston University for the 2025–26 season.

Ritchie, 18, is coming off a stellar year. He tallied 29 goals and 61 points in 53 regular-season WHL games, added nine goals and 18 points in 18 playoff contests, and capped it off with four goals and five points in four Memorial Cup appearances.

Ritchis has long been one of the smoothest, flashiest players in his age bracket and is supported
by a give-and-go style and improving physical game. He boasts a strong two-way approach to the game, which makes him the ideal fit to transition effectively to the college hockey ranks.

The 6-foot-1 right winger is expected to step directly into a top-six role with a Terriers squad that already boasts top talents like Cole Eiserman and Sacha Boisvert.

With a strong start to his NCAA career, Ritchie should find himself in the mix for Team Canada at the 2026 World Junior Championship.
