A couple of years ago, Vitali Kravtsov’s future with the Rangers wasn’t in doubt – the only question was just how good could he become?

Now seeking a trade with the Rangers' approval, the once inevitable Ranger top-six forward will likely become a new team's project.

Truthfully, this seems like the culmination of years of up-and-down development, not just simply the result of getting cut, a questionable decision in its own right. Once an unknown and then a top prospect, and now, somewhere in between, Kravtsov’s development has been a near-unprecedented rollercoaster.

But this doesn’t have to be the end for Kravtsov in the NHL. Over the years, he hasn’t lost his ability to stickhandle or shoot, and several parts of his game continue to improve.
