Calder Trophy Power Rankings: Looking at a Rapidly Shifting Field

It looks increasingly like this year’s Calder Trophy race is going to come down to a photo finish between two early emerging contenders, a pair of defenders who put miles between themselves and the pack halfway through the first lap.

In Vancouver Canucks rearguard Quinn Hughes and Colorado Avalanche wunderkind Cale Makar, our two frontrunners have emerged.

The gap between those two and the nearest contestant is bigger than that of the third- and tenth-ranked players, too. There’s a fight for first place, third place, and not much else, at least as this group is currently positioned.
