It wouldn't be an offseason without the Tampa Bay Lightning having some big roster questions to answer.

The good news for GM Julien BriseBois, though, is that there's less work to do than usual and, because of the rising of salary cap, that work doesn't have to involve nearly as much surgery as it usually does to get this elite team ready for Game 1 next October.

But that's just on the ice. Behind the bench, a bit of intrigue has kicked up in the past few days, as there is growing speculation that Jon Cooper, the longest-tenured coach in the league who is, not coincidentally, widely regarded as the best, might be looking to move on from the organization in favor of what would perhaps be a higher ranking job elsewhere. But we'll get to that in a bit.

Let's start with the roster first, though.
