The Connor McDavid-Leon Draisaitl-era Edmonton Oilers have been a slower build than many anticipated. The pair did immediately change the organization’s status, but it’s been steady progress than one major breakout.
Now, with back-to-back Stanley Cup finals losses, it’s more apparent than ever that the Oilers need more depth and inside scorers.
While the Oilers aren’t a particularly strong drafting team, a pair of trades for their top-two prospects, along with a few strong mid-and-late pick, could pay dividends as soon as this season.
