Brent Ruff Biography and Trivia
Number 11 retired by Swift Current Broncos
Ruff was one of four victims who lost their lives when the Swift Current Broncos team bus crashed on its way to a WHL game in Regina on December 30, 1986. Three of his teammates, Trent Kresse, Scott Kruger and Chris Mantyka, were also killed in the accident. The WHL named its Player of the Year award the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy in honour of the four Broncos players who were killed in the bus crash. The Swift Current Broncos retired the player jersey numbers and the numbers were included on a shoulder patch that can be seen on the Broncos' jerseys.
