Sal Diaz-Verson Facts
Family relations:
Nephew: Shelby Amos
History:
Salvador Diaz Verson, Jr., acquired the Columbus Cottonmouths CHL franchise from Martha Morrow and the dormant Hampton Roads Admirals ECHL franchise from Mark Garcea and Page Johnson with his nephew Shelby Amos and his newphew's wife Wanda Amos in 2001.
He subsequently applied to move the ECHL franchise to Bradenton, FL, and rebranded it as the Gulf Coast Swords in 2004, while Shelby and Wanda Amos applied to ice the Cottonmouths in the new formed SPHL. The ECHL franchise ran into trouble as his company was unable to provide the necessary funding for the construction of a new arena and the franchise folded in 2006 after being revoked by the ECHL.
