John D. Weissert was the General Manager and President of the ABA and later the NBA Indiana Pacers. In 1973, he and Pacers owner Dick Tinkham were awarded a WHA franchise that became known as the Indianapolis Racers. They opted to sell the franchise to Paul Deneau in December 1974. Weissert passed away on March 11, 2004.
