Fredrick A. 'Fred' Shabel was the Vice Chairman of Comcast Spectacor (originally Spectacor) and the Philadelphia Flyers from 1980 to 2020. Before this he worked as a basketball coach at Duke University (1953-1963) and at the University of Connecticut (1963-1967) and as the Athletic Director (1967-1975) and Vice President for Operations of the University of Pennsylvania (1975-1980). He died on February 26, 2023.
