Art Clarkson was the owner of the Birmingham Bulls ECHL and SPHL franchises, having been part of the ownership group alongside Ron Fuller, Doug Kirchhofer and Bob Polk that relocated the Cincinnati Cyclones ECHL franchise to to Birmingham, AL, in 1992, after the Cyclones' owners, Fuller, Kirchhofer and Polk branded their newly granted IHL franchise the Cyclones. Clarkson sold the ECHL franchise to David Berkman, Bruce Burge and Charles Felix in 1998.
Clarkson helped to revive the Bulls once more, this time in the SPHL. He led an ownership group that relocated the Columbus Cottonmouths to Pelham, AL, after the group had acquired the franchise from Shelby and Wanda Amos in 2018.
Art Clarkson passed away on October 7, 2019.
