Russ Rivas is better known as a stand-up comedian. He filled in for Mark Ciaccio as an assistant coach for the New Mexico Scorpions in December 1999. Two opposing teams, the Lubbock Cotton Kings and the El Paso Buzzards made complaints to the WPHL. The league banned him from appearing behind the bench in the league for heckling the opposing bench.
