Sir Hugh Andrew Montagu Allan, an avid businessman, was never directly involved in hockey. However, he became part of hockey history when he donated the Allan Cup to be awarded to the amateur champions of Canada. Allan was inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame in the Builder category in 1945. He passed away on September 26, 1951.
