Dylan Strome Ties It in the Third, Then Scores the Only Shootout Goal · Mar. 28, 2026
After Vegas had surged to a 4–3 lead early in the third, Strome broke a 17-game goal drought by one-timing a shot from the right circle on the power play to tie the game 4–4 — then delivered the decisive blow by roofing a backhand past Adin Hill on the first shot of the shootout to give Washington a 5–4 victory. It was a fitting hero turn for the Capitals' assistant captain, who had hit the post on the very first shot of the game and quarterbacked the team's third-period response after coughing up a 3–0 lead.
