On a power play in the first period with Winnipeg, Nazem Kadri fed Brock Nelson, who redirected the puck home to tie the game 1–1 — the secondary assist going to Cale Makar for the 500th point of his NHL career. Makar reached the plateau in just 392 games, the second-fastest pace by any defenceman in the cap era behind only his own trajectory. He had been sitting one point away from the milestone heading into Saturday's game.
