Originally drafted by Carolina in 2017 and spending six seasons in the organization, Morgan Geekie delivered a hat trick against his old club to give Boston a genuine chance at pulling off the upset. After going 17 games without a goal entering the night, Geekie erupted for three — completing the trick with 1:10 left in the second — pushing his season total to a career-best 37 and very nearly sending the Hurricanes home empty-handed.
