In his first career playoff, the defenseman acquired from Vancouver in December's blockbuster trade delivered his first two postseason goals on Minnesota's biggest night in over a decade. Hughes had gone goalless through five games despite five assists, but broke through with a glove-side wrister over Oettinger 6:23 into the first, then provided the go-ahead goal at 10:38 of the third when his shot from the left circle deflected off Ilya Lyubushkin's skate. The Norris Trophy winner's clutch performance validated every piece Minnesota surrendered to land him.
