Ehlers Scores Twice in First Period to Ignite Carolina · Jun. 2, 2026
The 30-year-old Dane wasted no time in Carolina's first Cup Final game in 20 years. Just 25 seconds in, Ehlers stole the puck at his own blueline, flew through the neutral zone, and beat Carter Hart under the glove — the third-fastest Final-opening goal ever. He struck again at 12:08, going backhand five-hole on a breakaway off a Jalen Chatfield feed, to push the lead to 2-0 and move within one of Lars Eller's record for career playoff goals by a Denmark-born player.
