Gabriel Landeskog Wins 2026 Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award · Jun. 9, 2026

Landeskog has served as Colorado's captain since September 2012 — the third-longest active captaincy in the NHL behind Crosby and Ovechkin. Selected personally by Messier, the award recognized Landeskog's on-ice leadership in guiding the Avalanche to the Presidents' Trophy, his community involvement through Kroenke Sports & Entertainment initiatives, and a recovery journey covered in the six-part documentary series "A Clean Sheet." He had 35 regular-season points and 11 points in 13 playoff games in his return season.
