Film Room: Nikita Shcherbakov's size and mobility combo makes him an intriguing prospect

On September 6th, 2025, Nikita Shcherbakov stole the attention of our scouting staff as he made his KHL debut with Salavat Yulaev Ufa. The sight of a 6‑foot‑5, draft‑eligible defenceman stepping directly into Russia’s top league naturally evoked comparisons to recent first‑rounders Dmitri Simashev and Anton Silayev.
After six games with a Ufa side plagued with debt and player turnover, Shcherbakov took the ice for 24 seconds against Sibir Novosibirsk on September 24th, marking his final game of the season in Russia’s top flight.
