Why Jack Ivankovic is trying to do his best Marty Turco impression for Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Michigan – Back in April, while he was playing for Team Canada at the Under-18 World Championships in Texas, Jack Ivankovic took time to meet with Marty Turco and Al Montoya

They talked about the upcoming NHL draft and University of Michigan hockey, two subjects that were fresh on Ivankovic’s mind. Soon after that meeting, and after winning a gold medal at Under-18s, Ivankovic officially committed to Michigan and was then drafted by the Nashville Predators in the second round of the 2025 NHL Draft. 

It’s a fitting story to bring up now, six months later, because Ivankovic is now attempting to do something at Michigan that only Turco and Montoya have done in the past three decades – go from the Michigan crease to a No. 1 role in the NHL.
