The NCAA hockey transfer portal has officially closed, with several major players and drafted prospects making the decision to change teams and make the most of new opportunities.
In all, nearly 200 players — roughly 1 in every 8 across Div. 1 — found new landing spots. But that's only a little more than half of the total number who entered the portal in the first place, showing that such a decision is as much about looking at options as it is about definitely finding a new place to play. It doesn't mean the grass is always greener, or that players are obligated to find a new school once they put themselves out there.
