Player Biography
After not coming out on top in the senior team of his mother club Klagenfurter AC, Gert Prohaska joined the St. Cloud State University in 1998. Following a brief 4-game spell with the WCHL's Phoenix Mustangs, he shifted to his former club Klagenfurter AC from Austria. In five seasons with the club between 1995 and 2001, the goaltender appeared in a total of 30 games only.
In 2001, Gert Prohaska joined his mother club's local rival Villacher SV, which he represented until he retired from the game of hockey in 2011. In 8 of his 10 seasons with the club, Prohaska was the team's number one goalkeeper, appearing in a total of 437 matches, which makes him the goalie with the most games played in the club's history. Prohaska, who noted for an overall GAA of 2.74 and a SVS% of .919 in his career with Villacher SV, won two Austrian championship titles with the club. Furthermore, he represented the Austrian national team in 11 international matches, including two World Championships in 2002 and 2003.
In June 2011, Gert 'Gee' Prohaska retired from the game of hockey at the age of 35 years. He remained with Villacher SV and worked in the club's management.
