Malík was a tall defensive defenceman known for his reach and poke checking. Lacked in offensive skills, flair and skating, but could still feed the forwards. Excelled in his own zone with sound positioning. Could have played more aggressively and used his size and strength better.
Became best known for a memorable highlight reel between the legs top shelf shoot out goal.
