William Klatt Biography and Trivia
Cult/Star player for ATSE Graz
William 'Bill' Klatt, born on October 16th 1947 in Minneapolis, MN, USA, started his professional career with the CHL's Oklahoma City Blazers. After scoring 189 points in 192 games, he joined the Minnesota Fighting Saints from the World Hockey Association (WHA). In the summer of 1975 he sought a change of scenery and moved overseas to Austria, where he joined HC Salzburg. One year later, he went on to Graz, where he became the Austrian league's top scorer in two consecutive seasons. Klatt was part of ATSE's championship winning team in 1978 and retired after a third year with the club in 1979. In four seasons in Austria he scored a total of 238 points (144 goals, 94 assists) in 127 games. William Klatt was also part of the United States' national team at the World Championships 1976 in Poland, a tournament the USA finished in fourth place.William Klatt passed away December 23rd, 2011 in Afton, MN, USA due to leukemia.
