A large forward, Barney utilizes his size and strength in his physical style. He is primarily a winger, but can also play as a center. Barney is an offensive player and a reliable finisher. He possesses a good shot and is very dangerous in front of the opposing net, where he can take advantage of his size and grit. Barney isn't a a very smooth skater, which affects his play in high pace. He missed three seasons in 1999-2002 due to a back injury. (Matias Strozyk, 2010)
