Howard Cornfield was a minority owner and the Vice President of Hockey Operations of United Sports Ventures (USV), which owned and operated an ECHL franchise in Mobile, Alabama, the Mobile Mysticks, and three UHL franchises, the Quad City Mallards, the Missouri River Otters and the Rockford IceHogs.

He established Victory Sports Group (VSG) that acquired the Quad City Mallards on September 13, 2001 from Eric Margenau, his former partner is USV.
