David Gary Laing became a co-owner of the Brandon Wheat Kings with Bob Cornell, Stuart Craig, Glen Fowler, Bruce Kent, Glenn Lawson, Clair Murray and Ross Mitchell on June 7, 1974. He and other other co-owners sold their stake in the WHL franchise to Jack Brockest on January 11, 1979.
He became the franchise co-owner again in August 1986. He, Bob Cornell and Stuart Craig bought the franchise from local investors for 300,000 Canadian dollars. Cornell bought out the other owners in 1991.
Laing, 78, died on September 28, 2023.
