Arbour returned as coach for the New York Islanders for one game in the 2007-08 season. On the request of Islanders head coach Ted Nolan, Arbour coached the team on November 3, 2007, giving him him a total of 1,500 games coached with the Islanders. On that night, he registered his 740th NHL win as a coach. Arbour, at age 75, also became the oldest man to ever coach in the NHL.
