Elite Prospects Notes and Trivia
History:
Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna Mariehamn was founded in 1919 as a multi-sport club. The club is best known for football, but it also operates a hockey section. As a curiosity, the Åland Islands based club team operates under the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, as opposed to the Finnish Ice Hockey Association.
Similar to many other IFK clubs, it shares the basic logo design featuring a shield and the text IFK. It is adopted from the Swedish IFK central organization. However, unlike the Swedish clubs, IFK Marienhamn and the Finnish clubs, have been run independently and the logo design deviates from the Swedish canon both in design and colors. Most notably, the logo does not feature the traditional four-pointed star.
