Connor McDavid had another milestone night, collecting his 800th NHL assist and then winning the crucial overtime faceoff that led to the game-winner. McDavid collected his 800th career assist one game after hitting 400 goals and 1,200 points in Salt Lake City. McDavid won a face-off in the right circle back to Bouchard, who skated into the high slot before beating Adin Hill blocker side to give the Oilers a 4-3 overtime win and a two-point lead over Vegas in the Pacific.
Rickard Rakell scored twice and added an assist while Erik Karlsson had a goal and two assists as Pittsburgh won 4-3 in a shootout over Ottawa. Karlsson fed Rakell at the left dot during a 5-on-3 for his third goal in his past two games, providing the go-ahead marker before Drake Batherson equalized. Karlsson collected his 714th career assist and surpassed Daniel Alfredsson for the fifth most by a Swedish player in NHL history.
Matthew Schaefer continued to build his remarkable rookie season with a two-assist night as the Islanders beat Dallas 2-1. Schaefer, the face of the franchise at 18 years old, assisted on each goal to reach 54 points, tying Hall of Famer Denis Potvin for the second most by a rookie defenseman in Islanders history. The win moved New York back into the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of the Ottawa Senators.
Mikael Granlund delivered a stunning hat trick for Anaheim, completing it in the final second of overtime. Granlund one-timed a pass in the high slot from defenseman John Carlson past Calgary goalie Devin Cooley with the Ducks on the power play and one second remaining to give Anaheim a 3-2 win. Granlund has seven goals during a four-game goal streak as Anaheim extended its winning streak to four games and maintained first place in the Pacific Division.
Alex Ovechkin produced one of the great performances of his storied career, scoring a hat trick to lead Washington's comeback from 3-1 down. The goals were Ovechkin's 924th, 925th and 926th of his career, and he passed Brett Hull for sole possession of fourth-most hat tricks in league history with his 34th. Ovechkin has now scored hat tricks against 21 different NHL franchises, also surpassing Hull for the most in NHL history. He completed the feat with an empty-net goal with 5.2 seconds remaining.

John Tavares put the Maple Leafs back in control with a sharp individual goal early in the third. He forced a turnover in the defensive zone, skated down the right wing and beat Shesterkin to the far side with a wrist shot from the right circle. It was his 26th goal of the season and extended his point streak to four games.
Zach Benson produced one of the night's most electric individual moments to level it at 2-2. Benson stripped Mason Lohrei of the puck at the Bruins blue line, skated to the net and stopped in front before putting it past Korpisalo's right skate. The goal also drew a retaliatory crosscheck from Lohrei afterwards, gifting the Sabres an immediate power play that they converted just seconds later.

The No. 3 pick of the 2025 NHL Draft was slotted straight onto the first line alongside Connor Bedard and Ryan Greene and on the top power-play unit for his NHL debut. The Blackhawks held on to win 4-3 despite a late push from the Islanders.
Carter Yakemchuk had a goal and an assist in his NHL debut, and Brady Tkachuk also had a goal and an assist for the Ottawa Senators in a 3-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena. Yakemchuk, the No. 7 overall pick of the 2024 draft, was called up earlier in the day with several defensemen sidelined by injuries, and the 20-year-old from Alberta made an immediate impact. Yakemchuk became the second Senators defenseman to record multiple points in his NHL debut, joining Maxime Lajoie in 2018.
