William 'Bill' Alexander MacFarlane, Duncan Gillespie and Scott Shaunessy were granted a WPHL expansion franchise, the Tupelo T-Rex, in 1998. The franchise was sold to a group of 12 investors, including Chad Fletcher, Monty Fletcher, Red Lewis and Hoppy Whitaker on January 20, 2000. He died on July 6, 2023.
